An Auburn, Massachusetts, police K-9 is being credited with tracking a missing 12-year-old girl’s scent for two miles last week to help police find her.
On Wednesday Jan. 31 at around 10:30 p.m., police learned that the girl had left home at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Auburn Police Department reports on Facebook.
Concerns for the missing girl’s safety were high because of the weather and because of the “nature of the incident,” police reported. Auburn Police officers and troopers from the Massachusetts State Police converged on the area.
Auburn Officer Ljunggren and his K-9 partner Biza were dispatched to the scene. “K-9 Biza was able to pick up a scent and began to track the scent. K-9 Biza tracked for a length of over two miles and led officers to an area where evidence showed that the child had been present a short time earlier. Officers converged on this area and located the child a short time later. The child was reunited with family and is safe,” the department reported.
