OH Deputy Struck by Trailer, Seriously Injured

The deputy was directing traffic at roughly 9:40 p.m., when a 2006 Ford F-450 pulling a car hauler entered the intersection. Authorities say the trailer struck the deputy.

A Summit County, OH, sheriff's deputy sustained life-threatening injuries Thursday night while directing traffic for the Jason Aldean concert in Cuyahoga Falls, according to the sheriff's office.

The deputy was directing traffic at roughly 9:40 p.m., when a 2006 Ford F-450 pulling a car hauler entered the intersection, said Bill Holland, the sheriff's office public information officer. The trailer struck the deputy, who was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital, the Beacon Journal reports.

No charges have been filed, Holland said, but speed, travel direction and the full extent of the deputy's injuries among other factors will be considered.
