A Kentucky man is facing several chargesâincluding attempted murder of a police officerâafter attempting to escape from a traffic stop late Tuesday.
According to WATE-TV, Kentucky State Police officers initiated a traffic stop late Tuesday while attempting to locate a fugitive in connection to an officer-involved shooting in Knox County.
During the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicleâidentified by authorities as 21-year-old Randy Sullivanâattempted to drive away, striking a trooper and dragging him for some distance, police say.
Troopers opened fire on the fleeing vehicle, striking Sullivan. He was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Kentucky State Police Trooper did not sustain any serious injuries nor require medical treatment.
Sullivan has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer, fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, trafficking in a controlled substance, felon in possession of a handgun and multiple traffic violations.
A passenger in the vehicleâidentified as 42-year-old Linda Adamsâhas been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.
