A motor officer with the Spokane (WA) Police Department was seen over the weekend playing a little game of catch with a young man, and the image posted to social media quickly drew dozens of comments of appreciation from local citizens.

The agency posted the picture of the officer on Facebook with the caption, "As a part of his unofficial duties, Officer Applewhaite played a little football with some young citizens today! Their mom said he made her boys' day!"

One citizen commented, "Officer Applewhaite!! Impactful, kind, and a role model to many! Some of my best memories in high school were job shadowing/ride alongs with him. Thank you for your service and dedication to the youth in our community!"

Another said, "Seeing how many comments from people who've experienced his awesomeness is beautiful testament to how much he has contributed to all of our lives. And how much he still is! I love seeing good news being shared. Especially when it’s about peeps I know and care for."

A third simply said, "Love this guy. He's the best!"
