An officer with the Quincy (MA) Police Department rescued a baby opossum on Tuesday evening, bringing it home to his family to help care for it.

The agency said on Facebook, "This evening, a resident called dispatch wondering what to do with a baby opossum, as both of its siblings had died. Animal Control was not available, but luckily Officer Tim Kaes was working."

The post continued, "Officer Kaes responded to Willard St to pick up the opossum. Area residents attempted to contact local wildlife centers, but were unable to find one that could accept the animal this evening. Fearing that it may die if left on its own, Officer Kaes brought the little guy home."

The family has named the animal Stone Cold Steve Opossum.
