Texas Officer Accidentally Discharges Sidearm in High School—Nobody Injured

An officer with the Mesquite (TX) Police Department reportedly was inspecting his weapon in an office on Thursday at a local high school when the firearm accidentally discharged.

An officer with the Mesquite (TX) Police Department reportedly was inspecting his weapon in an office on Thursday at a local high school when the firearm accidentally discharged.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the officer—whose name has not been released—was alone in the room when the AD occurred.

He reportedly removed the magazine but neglected to empty the chamber and accidentally fired a single round, police said.

The round "ricocheted off the concrete floor and disintegrated," according to a written statement from the department.

Nobody was harmed in the incident.
