A second Detroit police officer has been fired in connection with what's been called a racially insensitive Snapchat video in January, Police Chief James Craig said Tuesday.
In a press conference via Facebook, Craig said 11 allegations were made against the second officer, identified as Michael Garrison. The decision for termination was made after a chief's hearing last week, reports the Detroit Free Press.
The allegations against Garrison included making false statements during the investigation and using insensitive terminology.
At the time of the incident, Garrison was the partner of former Officer Gary Steele, who was fired on Feb. 27 for the social media video.
The video, posted on Steele's Snapchat account, showed 23-year-old Ariel Moore walking after a traffic stop. The video also included the captions, "What black girl magic looks like" and "Celebrating Black History Month."
During the chief's hearing, Craig said Garrison did not speak or offer an apology and even did not appear remorseful. Craig described Garrison giving "disturbing" looks.
