Off-Duty Florida Officer Attacked While Defending Homeless Person Harassed by Teens

An off-duty officer with the Sarasota (FL) Police department was jogging in a park on Thursday when he came upon a group of teenagers harassing and hitting a homeless person.

An off-duty officer with the Sarasota (FL) Police department was jogging in a park on Thursday when he came upon a group of teenagers harassing and hitting a homeless person.

According to WFLA-TV, the officer—whose name has not been released—identified himself as a Sarasota police officer and when he tried to intervene, he was attacked by at least five teenagers who struck him several times, leaving him with minor injuries.

The teens fled the area and have not yet been apprehended.
