Man Assaults Indiana Police Officer in Confrontation at Hospital

A man reportedly attacked an officer with the Evansville (IN) Police Department at a local hospital, breaking the officer's nose and leaving him with other injuries.

A man reportedly attacked an officer with the Evansville (IN) Police Department at a local hospital, breaking the officer's nose and leaving him with other injuries.

According to the Courier-Press, the man—identified as 28-year-old Justin Brunner—was at the hospital to speak to a staff member for a crisis intervention but tried to leave.

When Detective Aaron McCormick attempted to prevent Brunner from leaving, the man attacked the officer, striking him in the face and forcing him to the ground.

After continuing the assault on the ground, Brunner fled on foot. McCormick followed in pursuit, eventually apprehending the subject.

Officer McCormick was hospitalized for his injuries.

Brunner now faces preliminary charges of battery on a public safety official and resisting law enforcement.
